    Dr. Chia-Lin Pan currently serves as a fulltime Professor of Music Composition at the University of Taipei. She is also the President of the International Society of Contemporary Music (ISCM) Taiwan Section since 2019. Dr. Pan received her degree of Doctor of Music in Composition from the Northwestern University (Illinois, U.S.A.) and earned both her Bachelor and Master degrees from the National Taiwan Normal University (Taipei, Taiwan). She studied composition with Prof. M. W. Karlins, Yen Lu, Alan Stout, Augusta Read Thomas, Hwang-long Pan and Jay Alan Yim (alphabetical order of last names).

    Chia-Lin Pan is an active composer and her works have been performed at major festivals, including Asian Composers’ League Music Festivals and the International Society of Contemporary Music World Music Days. She works closely with the musicians of many contemporary music ensembles such as Pacifica String Quartet, The Eighth Blackbird, The Bugallo-Williams Piano Duo, Duo Diorama, Kaohsiung Chinese Orchestra and National Symphony Orchestra (Taiwan). Her works were commissioned and performed by NU Contemporary Music Ensemble, NanaFormosa Percussion Group, The Little Giant Chinese Chamber Orchestra, Chia Found Music Workshop, Taipei Music Forum Ensemble, New Taipei City Symphony Orchestra, Taipei Symphony Orchestra, Taiwan Wind Ensemble, Evergreen Symphony Orchestra and Ju Percussion Group.

        The categories of Dr. Pan’s compositions involve all kinds of instrumentations, including the Western and Eastern (traditional) instruments, and the sizes of her compositions span from large/medium chamber groups to solo pieces, also pieces for orchestra and choir. Working with these diverse types of categories and musicians, help presents the varieties, creativities and imaginations of Dr. Pan’s music.
